Theological Reflection in Adolescent Faith Formation: Sociological, Psychological, and Theological Perspectives

Abstract Christians are increasingly choosing to leave the church during period of young adulthood. This trend suggests that there shortcomings in our practices religious education and faith formation. Here I propose practice theological reflection is a method can be employed address some these shortcomings. The article connects trends disaffiliation with psychological theories identity formation self-determination shed light on internal changes leading people away from religion. Theological reflection, process examining one’s experience through lens teachings, common Church ministers has potential also benefit adolescents. With consideration patterns related disaffiliation, demonstrate ways foster Christian students an enduring impact lives adolescents adults.
